Coffee, cocktails, supper clubs, evening chef residencies & music

Cafe by day, supper clubs & chef residencies by night with aperitivo & music in between

In our first foray outside London we are delighted to team up with the Turner Contemporary to bring you Louie On Sea.

Continuing our ethos of hosting ticketed supper clubs and evening residencies with up and coming local, national  and international chefs, we hope to contribute positively to Margate’s burgeoning food & drink scene.

Local Chef Morgan Brooks’ MOP returns for a 5 week evening residency every Friday and Saturday until Sat 5 April. You can book a table here.

Our first Supper Club of the year features Chef Denai Moore, celebrating the first anniversary of her Jamaican cookery book "Plentiful". Tickets available here

"Bring The Fire To Your Writing" on Thu 24 April. Join Jacqueline Crooks, author of the award-winning novel Fire Rush, for a monthly creative writing workshop series exploring the intersection of creative writing and music. Inspired by the deep basslines, fragmented echoes, and sonic experimentation of dub music, this series will guide writers in using rhythm to enrich their writing. Tickets here

Say co owners Chris & Lena Greenwood
“We are really honoured to have been given the opportunity to spread our wings and ethos to Margate inside this wonderful building.
Having spent the last year running the cafe at the South London Gallery really gave us the confidence to go national.
We look forward to serving the gallery audience and public great value quality produce, sourced locally & sustainably”

About Turner Contemporary_
Turner Contemporary is one of the UK’s leading art galleries. Founded to celebrate JMW Turner’s connection to Margate in 2001, the David Chipperfield designed gallery opened in 2011. Their work extends beyond showcasing world-class exhibitions to driving the social and economic regeneration of Margate and East Kent and transforming lives in one of the most deprived areas of the UK.
Since it opened, Turner Contemporary has welcomed over 4.1 million visits, put over £80 million back into the Kent economy, and connected with thousands of people from the local community through our world-class programme.

Turner Contemporary director Clarrie Wallis says
“We are delighted to be working with an experienced and creative restaurant team, bringing a new and exciting approach to our café at Turner Contemporary. The café is a warm, welcoming space that significantly enhances the gallery experience. It’s a place where the community can gather, reflecting our commitment to supporting local suppliers and strengthening the town’s social fabric.”
